We want everyone involved in our Scout Group to feel safe, respected, and listened to. Most concerns can be sorted out quickly by talking things through, and we encourage open, friendly communication.

Step 1: Talk to Us First

If something’s worrying you, please speak to the relevant leader as soon as you can. Many issues can be resolved informally with a simple conversation.

If you are not satisfied with the outcome, please speak to Sam Samuel, our Group Scout Leader.

Step 2: Make a Formal Complaint

If the concern can’t be resolved informally, you can make a formal complaint.

· Please put your complaint in writing (email or letter)

· Include what happened, when it happened, and who was involved

· Send it to the Group Scout Leader (gsl@bourneendscoutgroup.co.uk)

If your complaint is about the Group Scout Leader, please contact the District Commissioner.

We’ll acknowledge your complaint within 7 days and aim to respond fully within 28 days.

Step 3: Escalation

If you’re not happy with the outcome, you can ask for the complaint to be reviewed at District or County level.

Safeguarding

Any concern about the safety or wellbeing of a young person or adult must be reported immediately using Scout safeguarding procedures. These concerns are not dealt with through this complaints process.

Our Commitment

· We take concerns seriously

· We’ll treat everyone with respect

· We’ll handle complaints fairly and confidentially

· No one will be treated unfairly for raising a concern
